New Toilet!

Oh the joys of having a two-year-old in the house...

We had a very interesting and funny weekend (I can say that now). Tate is very into the exploring and seeing how everything works stage. Lately his interest has been the toilet. We've started introducing potty training, but he just has more interest in flushing the 'big potty'.

On Saturday, Blair made the comment that the toilet was very slow and wasn't flushing properly. My Uncle Dennis and Aunt Jan were at our house. So, my uncle (being the handy man that he is) helped Blair use an auger and work on solving the mystery. Before I knew it, the toilet was in the bathtub and the guys were  reaching and digging. They had decided that something was stuck!

Having fun, Daddy?

THE CULPRIT!
While the guys worked away- Tate entertained himself.
Yes, he's wearing one of Mommy's headbands (another infatuation he has about the bathroom)!

After what seemed liked forever, they came to the conclusion that whatever it was was stuck in the trap of the toilet and was NOT coming out. We knew that a trip to Lowe's to get a new toilet was now thrown into our evening plans. Of course we had to figure out just what it was...What did Mr. Tate flush down the toilet? Blair was determined it was a golf ball.

Well he was wrong...

He busted it open to find my pumice stone. haha!

Tate was thrilled about the new toilet, and loved the box even more! :)

I guess it makes a good story!

SpRiNg

I love this weather!! That is all there is to it...spring weather rocks! :)
This past weekend we spent lots of time with family! On Friday, my parents came down and took Tate and I out to eat. Blair had a golf meet.
Then on Saturday my brother arrived with my new neice-pup, KD. She's a Goldendoodle, and is as sweet as can be. I think the whole family fell in love with her! In the afternoon, we all headed to Story City to my Uncle Dennis' 70th surprise birthday party. It was so great to see all the family and my cousins really put on a great party.Tate loves Dennis and couldn't wait to see him!
My family headed home on Sunday and Ryan, Janelle, Kayson, and Cora came for lunch and to just hang out. We played so hard, went to the park, and had ice cream. Tate and Kayson played so well with eachother.

All this awesome weather makes me so excited for summer...the pool, the lake, and time playing outside with Buddy. Tonight after Tate's bath, I popped a bag of popcorn and we went on a stroller ride. It was so nice, because he's not really into the stroller anymore but with a bowl of popcorn on his lap he was quite content. We went on a long walk and waited for Daddy to come home from golf. We haven't been seeing much of Daddy, and it's so sweet when he tells me, "Mommy, I miss Daddy!"
Two weeks left of golf and then we get him back!

Here are some pictures from our fun weekend-

The boyz! :)

Not even scared to go down the big slide!!

B-ball with K and Uncle Ry!

Ice Cream in the Cozy Coupe

Poor Cora May was sick, but had a nice snooze on our trip to the park/

I think I heard one of my students tell me that we're down to 25 days of school....Bring on summer! :)

VEISHEA and Fun with Miss June

This past weekend was VEISHEA and we had soooo much fun.
My best friends- Kay, Emma, and Beth, along with Beth's hubby, Jared and their daughte,r June came to celebrate with us. We had a blast!!
On Friday, the girls headed to Des Moines for some shopping and dinner. We let the dads babysit the kiddos. The house looked like a tornado went through it when we got home, but both kiddos were sound asleep! :)
On Saturday, we went to the parade. It was sunny and warm, and it was so much fun to go onto campus. It always brings back so many memories! June and Tate loved the parade and both the kids sat so nice.
That afternoon we came home for naps and grilled. We ended the evening with a dual bath! :)

Cyclone Cookies! :)

Tate sat on the curb for the longest time, but as soon as Cy approached he backed away! He likes him from a distance, but doesn't want to get too close.

I love progression of these next pictures. June thought it was hilarious to dump water on Tate.

Our Easter Week!

We had a very busy, blessed Easter!

Our celebrating started on Thursday night. We dyed Easter eggs. This was a mess and very short-lived, but very well worth it! ha! Tate had a lot a fun and even managed to dye his gray sweatpants yellow!

Ta Da!

On Friday morning, we headed to Creston to spend time with the Taylor's. Tate played outside with Papa Mike in the afternoon, and that evening we had dinner with some great friends!

On Saturday, we celebrated with the whole Taylor family. Jean Ann prepared an awesome lunch and we had a nice time catching up with all the fam. Grandma Janis had an egg hunt for the kiddos! Tate loved it, and he actually understood what he was doing this year! It was so cute.

Look at these handsome boys! Just relaxin'!

Grandma Ann and Tate

These are two very lucky boys! Grandma and Papa got them a Jeep to enjoy when they visit! The both loved it. Tate didn't always like Kayson in the drivers seat though!

The cousins..minus Colby, Duke, and Britt

Counting the eggs!

After all the playing on Saturday, we headed back to Nevada. When we got to our house, Papa Tim and Nana Dawn were waiting with a surprise for Tate. Check out the surprise-

Chicks!!!
Aren't they cute? Yes, they went back home with Nana and Papa!

Tate slept in this morning, but was excited for his surprises from the Easter Bunny. We then headed to church, and came home for a nice lunch. Naps were had by all, and my parents hit the road this evening.

Happy Easter to all! :)

St. Pat's and more...

Last weekend we went to Emmetsburg for St. Paddy's Day! :) We had a great weekend..even though the weather was COLD!
We went to the fish fry on Friday night. On Saturday our good friends, Matt and Kelsey, along with Matt's parents came to Mom and Dad's to smoke a bunch of meat. Matt and his dad prepared 30 pounds of turkey legs and several racks of ribs! It was a TON of food, but delicious.
We went to the parade. Tate wasn't too excited about it and I think he was almost scared of it. I think it was a combination of the cold weather and the fire truck sirens at the beginning.
He was just happy to be in Papa's garage riding his gator, playing ball, and swinging. We had so much company at the house that afternoon and evening so he was very entertained. It was a great weekend!

 Yummy!! Bakery donuts with Nana!
Papa got Tate his first baseball glove! He loved it. As you can see, he's still trying to figure out how to wear it.

Gator!!

Off to the parade!

Papa and Tate all bundled up!

This last week we didn't have daycare, because Debbie takes a spring break. Tate got to spend lots of time with his Nanas. Nana Dawn came on Monday and Tuesday, and Nana Jean Ann came on Thursday and Friday. On Friday, Tate rode back to Creston to spend some time with Papa Mike too. Mommy and Daddy got to have dinner out and watch the Cyclone game.

Nana Jean Ann made bunnies with Tate while we were at work. Aren't they cute?

Thank you to the grandmas for babysitting for us! I know Tate had a blast!

SNOW DAYS!

We've had so much snow and so many snow days! We've been staying warm and keeping busy inside, and we've also spent a little time out in the snow too. Yesterday I had a snow day and Blair had to go to school. Tate and I had such a fun day at home doing art and finding new things to play with. There wasn't a boring moment! :)

I decided to give Tater a pan of Rice Krispies to drive his trucks in. He ended up playing with it for over an hour. He scooped and poured probably 100 times. I could have fed an army with the cereal on my floor, but oh well...it was cheap entertainment, and a great use of stale cereal.

This next picture is hilarious! This doesn't even look like him. I told him to stand by his shamrock we made and say "cheese"--Well he's cheesy alright! haha! Goof!

We played in the snow a day last week, and then came inside to experience hot chocolate for the first time!

Messy, but so yummy! :) Notice the bib on the back of his chair...but what fun would that be? :)

I love my snow days, but I'm going to pray for spring because I'm officially into June now!

My Silly Boy

I just have to share a funny story about Tate tonight! He just cracked me up and I had to put it in the blog so I didn't forget the details! But before I share, I have to fill in a small detail. Tate has been very curious about boys and girls and will even ask about his "dude". When he talks about it I try not to make it a big deal but lately he's been bringing it up a lot. I hope this is just a phase for little boys and will go away soon. So anyways he just wouldn't settle in tonight and wanted to be held and rocked. When I rock him, he likes to have full conversations about his day, all of our family members, and anything else that's on his little mind! So after having a full conversation about playing in the snow and Papa's trucks, I decided I would try singing. As soon as I started singing, he started throwing all his requests out there. "Swish, Swish, Mommy" ( Wheels on the Bus), "Cyclone" (ISU fight song), and lastly "Manger" (Away in a Manger). I know more than finish that song and Tate popped up his little head and asked, "Baby Jesus have a dude, Mommy?" I tried not to make it a big deal but inside I was dying laughing. What can I say... he is a very inquisitive 2 year old!
